Insignia™ Customised Braces

Insignia™ is a customised braces system developed by orthodontists and other technologists at Ormco.

Traditional braces come in stock standard sizes and prescriptions. In other words, one size fits all. Each individual bracket is glued on to each tooth directly by the orthodontist. Then a sequence of wires are applied which allows the teeth to align, spaces to close, bites to correct and aesthetic to improve. This system has worked well for a long time and still holds common place in the current practice of orthodontics.

With the introduction of digital technology into orthodontics, Ormco has invested time and money into research and technology to change the way braces are done in clinical practice.

A 3D digital scan is taken of the teeth and rendered into a digital model which is joined with a 3D x-ray and clinical photographs. A simulation of the end of orthodontic treatment is then created such that final tooth positions, root positions and the teeth within the smile can be visualised. Patients love seeing their smile and end result before treatment even starts. For the orthodontist, being able to see the end result at the start paves the way for accuracy, efficiency and predictability of treatment. Beginning with the end in mind is the key in orthodontics.

From here the appliance is custom made. This means that each bracket is made especially to fit the surface of each tooth and the prescription of the bracket is also uniquely tailored. The brackets are then precisely placed on the teeth using a template. This is called indirect bonding, a process that is quick and easy, and means less time in the chair the day the braces are fitted.

The wires are also designed and custom made for the case which further ensures that treatment runs efficiently and results are consistent and predictable.

We offer Insignia™ at Olivia Rogers Orthodontics and are happy to discuss this system as an option for you at your consultation.
